CIPCO Employees and Member Systems Participate in Live Healthy Iowa Program – May 1, 2010 — 

One hundred ninety-two employees and directors from CIPCO, Clarke Electric Cooperative, Consumers Energy, East-Central Iowa REC, Guthrie County REC, Linn County REC, Pella Cooperative Electric, Southwest Iowa REC, Iowa Area Development Group and Iowa Association of Electric Cooperatives participated in the Live Healthy Iowa 100 Day Challenge January 14 – April 23, 2010. 
 

Live Healthy Iowa is a team-based physical activity and weight loss program designed to promote a healthier lifestyle.  Since 2002, 169,822 Iowans have lost a total of 683,634 pounds and logged 494,811,650 minutes of activity.  Any group of friends, family, business or community can form teams to take part in the program. Live Healthy Iowa encourages participants to set realistic goals and make informed decisions regarding their health.  This is the first year that CIPCO and its member systems have participated.
 

Twenty-seven teams from CIPCO and its member systems lost a total of 1,363 pounds and almost 9,790 hours of exercise had been accumulated through sweat and determination by team members. The husband and wife team of Pat and Deb Murphy (Hold the Mayo) was the overall winner. They lost an average of 13% in weight and earned 9,392 total points in exercise. No other team came close to the results that they have posted.
 

Other top overall winners were Rex Butler of The Transformers for losing 15.67% in the weight class and Chris Cole of Fair Station Mickey Mousers for completing 297 hours and 20 minutes in the exercise category.
